An interactive art book feat. 100 Berlin-based artists presenting
urban art, painting, illustration, collage and photography.

THE IDEA:
During the course of some 100 exhibitions held in the Neonchocolate Gallery in the last two years, we have always held a desire to present Berlin’s wide spectrum of young art and its burgeoning art scene to an audience outside the capital. Now, with the project “Berlin What?”, we aim to showcase Berlin-based artists internationally via exhibitions, extraordinary art events and, as our first step, an interactive artbook of the same name that we are publishing on ourselves.

Remixing Realities (Collage)

Remixing Realities ist eine Gemeinschaftsausstellung von Quintessenz und Skizzomat in der Wirklichkeit spielerisch aus ihrem Kontext genommen wird – so entstehen starke Bildwelten, die unbekannte Facetten in Alltäglichem offenbaren.

Die Werke des Kollektivs Quintessenz sind meist ein Mix aus Siebdruck, Collage, Zeichnung, Aquarell und Typografie. Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt hierbei auf Komposition und bildnerischer Interpretation von Geschichten. Diese finden sich auf subtile und abstrakte Weise in ihren Arbeiten wieder, bestechen durch ihre Detailverliebtheit und lassen den Betrachter Freiraum für eigene Interpretationen.

Skizzomat (Marie Luise Emmermann) zeigt eine Auswahl ihrer „Glueless Collages“ und „Papersculpts“ – experimentelle Arbeiten der letzten beiden Jahre. Im Fokus steht dabei das Sezieren von oberflächlicher Schönheit, die Auflösung und Entfremdung von bekannten Formen und die Neugestaltung durch Aussparung. In stilisierten Fotografien festgehalten, finden die fragilen Objekte ihre Ordnung und lassen dabei ein irritierendes Gefühl zurück.
